[Calligraphy Club] Powerful Performance at the Kyoto Mirai Arts Festival New Year's Concert 2026
The Calligraphy Club gave a live performance at the Kyoto Mirai Arts Festival New Year’s Concert 2026, held at the Kyoto Concert Hall.
For the performance, a massive sheet of paper measuring 4 meters tall by 6 meters wide was used to create a dynamic display that captivated the entire venue. The theme of the performance was “Shoshi Kantetsu”, meaning "to carry through one’s original intention." The students poured their determination and spirit into expressing this message through their art.
Although they faced challenges during practice and things didn’t always go smoothly, the club members encouraged one another and continued working hard toward their goal. On the day of the performance, in front of a large audience, they completed their piece with expressions filled with joy and a sense of achievement.
One student shared, “I was able to experience the joy of seeing something through to the end.” The performance became a meaningful moment where the students truly embodied the spirit of Shoshi Kantetsu as calligraphy artists. After the performance, they also participated in an exchange event with performers from other schools, where they shared thoughts on each other's artistic expressions and activities.
With gratitude to everyone who continuously supports the club, and to the organizers who provided such a wonderful opportunity, all members of the Calligraphy Club will continue striving for further growth and excellence.
