Participating in a Major League Baseball Board Game Event!

On Friday, January 16, 2026, four junior high school students from our school participated in a board game event hosted by Major League Baseball (MLB), held at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu.

This event aimed to develop participants’ understanding of baseball strategy, critical thinking, and analytical skills through a board game format. Players were required to make repeated decisions while predicting game developments, making the experience both challenging and intellectually engaging. In addition, the winning team was to be invited to the World Baseball Classic (WBC) in Miami, which added to the excitement and intensity of the competition throughout the venue.

Participation in this event was made possible through an introduction by a graduate of our school who is involved in international sports development. Furthermore, after learning about our school’s connections with MLB-related activities, an alumnus currently studying in Tokyo (a former member of the baseball team) supported the event as an intern, assisting with its operation. With several individuals connected to our school present at the venue, the students were able to take on the challenge in a very encouraging and supportive environment.

Although the students were unable to advance in the tournament, the event provided them with a valuable opportunity to learn about baseball in a different way and to experience both the enjoyment and difficulty of strategic decision-making.

There is also a possibility that the event will be held in the Kansai region next year, and we hope to continue actively engaging in similar learning opportunities in the years to come.
