On Sunday, January 18, 2026, the 3rd Junior High and High School Wind & Percussion Solo Contest (Kyoto Competition) was held at the Nagaokakyo City Central Lifelong Learning Center. A total of 10 students from our junior and senior high school wind ensemble—4 junior high students and 6 high school students—took part in the competition.

All ten participants were competing in a solo contest for the first time. While balancing their academic responsibilities, they practiced diligently and delivered confident and impressive performances on stage.

Amid this highly competitive event, Mika Fujieda (Grade 11, Flute) received a Gold Award and was further selected as one of the representatives from among 21 contestants. She will advance to the Kansai Regional Competition, scheduled to be held on Monday, February 23 (national holiday).

This marks the first time since the founding of our wind ensemble that a student has been selected as a representative for the regional competition—an historic achievement for the club.
