【Junior High WOW】Trying Filipino Hand Games! Tagalog WOW (January)
WOW (World of Wonder) is a program designed to broaden each student’s interests and perspectives on the world through hands-on experiences with “the real thing” that are not easily encountered in everyday school life.
The January edition of our monthly Tagalog WOW was held, and this time the theme was Filipino hand games.
Students took part in activities such as clapping hands with a partner and counting numbers while singing Tagalog songs. By moving their bodies in rhythm and engaging with the language in a playful way, the session became an enjoyable learning experience that naturally deepened understanding and also served as a fun mental workout.
One of the unique charms of Tagalog WOW is that interaction often begins with familiar and nostalgic hand game songs that many people in the Philippines know. Rather than simply learning about language and cultural backgrounds, students were able to experience the joy of connecting with others through play, making this WOW session a time full of discovery.
