IM Course First-Year Students Depart for Their Study Abroad Program

On January 20 (Tuesday), the first-year students of the IM Course (Minami Class) departed Japan for their study abroad programs in Australia and New Zealand and arrived safely at their destinations. Their approximately one-year study abroad journey has now begun and will continue until their return to Japan in December.

Even after the start of the third term, students engaged in pre-departure learning activities in preparation for their study abroad, including making miso and exploring their local area of Uji to rediscover Japanese culture. In particular, the miso-making activity, closely connected to Japanese food culture, provided a valuable opportunity to learn about Japan’s fermentation traditions that support everyday meals. The miso prepared together by the students will be left to ferment for about a year, and they are already looking forward to tasting it upon their return.

In addition, IM Course alumni (fourth-year university students) who have completed their job-hunting process and are about to begin their careers were invited as guest speakers. By hearing firsthand how their high school study abroad experiences and learning in the IM Course have influenced their career choices and university studies, current students gained valuable insights and inspiration as they prepare for their own overseas experience.

Believing in themselves, trusting their peers, and having faith in the future, the students have taken a new step forward. We sincerely appreciate your continued warm support and encouragement.
