[High School Student Council] With High Aspirations Toward the Future — The First Student Assembly Held

On Friday, February 6, the first Student Assembly of the 33rd Student Council was held.

The assembly began with an address from the Student Council President and an introduction of the executive members, followed by the announcement of the 33rd Student Council’s slogan, “Kosho”. This slogan embodies a strong determination to set high aspirations, take on challenges without hesitation, and proactively shape the future.

During the assembly, the Student Council reported on past activities such as opinion-collection tours, close-up features on club activities, and various exchange events. In addition, two proposals and announcements were presented.

The first proposal concerned the establishment of the Rule-Making Committee. This committee will carry on the rule-making initiatives previously conducted through student assemblies and other forums. Focusing on the Student Code of Conduct, which is closely related to daily school life, the committee will serve as a platform where students can continuously conduct research, engage in discussion, and make proposals.

Through dialogue and consensus-building, the committee aims to develop rules that are acceptable to students, teachers, and the school as a whole. This proposal was approved by a majority vote. With greater freedom comes a stronger demand for responsible behavior from each student, and high expectations are placed on the committee’s future activities.

The second proposal concerned the theme of the Kofusai Festival. Suggestions were collected in advance from each class through class representatives, and the Student Council narrowed them down to three options, which were then presented at the assembly.

The vote on the day was extremely close, and the final decision will be made after including votes from classes that were temporarily closed. Please look forward to the announcement of the final theme.

In this Student Assembly, decisions were made by a show of hands rather than through online voting via Classi, which had been used previously. Although this was the Student Council officers’ first time using this method and there were some initial concerns, the sense of immediacy was well received by students. It was an opportunity that fostered active participation and a stronger sense of autonomy.

The 33rd Student Council will continue to work together to create a better school environment and aims to be a Student Council that earns the trust of the entire school community. We kindly ask for your continued warm support.
