【High School Wind Ensemble】A Dynamic Performance at the Kansai Solo Contest for Wind & Percussion!
On Monday, February 23, 2026 (national holiday), the 30th Kansai Solo Contest for Junior and Senior High School Wind & Percussion was held at The College Opera House, Osaka College of Music. Representing our high school wind ensemble, Mika Fujieda (Grade 11, flute) participated in the competition.
A total of 83 highly skilled performers, who had advanced through a very competitive preliminary round, took part in the contest. Among these talented musicians, Fujieda—competing in her very first solo contest—delivered a poised and expressive unaccompanied flute performance. Her delicate tone and rich musical expression captivated the audience, earning her the prestigious Silver Award.
Reflecting on the experience, Fujieda shared:
“I am truly grateful for this wonderful opportunity. I would like to sincerely thank my teachers, my family, and everyone who has supported and encouraged me. I will continue to learn from this experience and strive to grow further. Thank you for your continued support.”
Her words, filled with gratitude and determination, left a strong impression and reflected her commitment to reaching the next stage.
Advancing from the Kyoto competition to the Kansai competition marks a historic first for our wind ensemble since its founding. The steady efforts of each member have borne fruit, carving a new chapter in the club’s history.
