【International Students】Edventure: A Day of International Exchange Connected by Deer and the Great Buddha
The second Edventure program of February took students to Nara, the ancient capital where history and nature coexist. This special program also welcomed guests from The Northwest School in Seattle, USA, making it a unique opportunity for international exchange.
Our school’s Edventure program combines Education and Adventure into an experiential learning opportunity. Its primary goal is to help international students deepen their understanding of Japanese culture. This time, by participating alongside visitors from the United States, our international students were able to engage in further cross-cultural exchange while in Japan.
At Nara Park, the first stop of the day, students were thrilled as the friendly deer approached them up close. Feeding the deer with special crackers and taking photos together created many joyful moments. Smiles came naturally, and meaningful interactions took place beyond language barriers.
The group then visited Todai-ji Temple, where they viewed the Great Buddha, standing approximately 15 meters tall. Surrounded by the temple’s solemn atmosphere, students spent a reflective moment experiencing Japan’s history and cultural heritage. As they shared their impressions with one another, it was clear that learning was expanding beyond cultural boundaries.
Blending nature, history, and international exchange, this Edventure became a truly enriching and memorable day filled with learning and inspiration.
