Received the Uji City Junior Culture Award (2025)

Yuria Takemoto, a second-year high school student at our school, has received the Uji City Junior Culture Award for 2025.

This award was given in recognition of her map project titled “Our Uji City: Tea Field MAP”, which focuses on tea cultivation in Uji. The project previously received the IGU-LUCC Chair’s Award at the 35th Environmental Map Exhibition of Our Surroundings. Based on field research, the map analyzes and illustrates the distribution of tea fields and the environmental characteristics of Uji City. The work was highly praised for its careful investigation of local features and its clear and accessible presentation.

The award ceremony was held on March 1, the anniversary of the establishment of Uji City, at the Grand Hall of the Uji City Cultural Center.

We are delighted that the efforts of our student have been recognized in this way, and we look forward to Takemoto’s continued success in the future.
