[High School Soccer] Ritsumeikan Uji Defeats Fukuchiyama Seibi with a Last-Minute Winning Goal in the Kyoto Inter-High Preliminary Tournament, Advances to the Semifinals
On Saturday, May 23, the quarterfinals of the Reiwa 8 (2026) Kyoto Prefectural Qualifiers for the National High School Inter-High Soccer Tournament were held at Taiyo ga Oka Sports Park. Ritsumeikan Uji defeated Fukuchiyama Seibi 1–0 to secure a place in the semifinals.
The match was intense from the opening whistle. Early in the game, Fukuchiyama Seibi created dangerous attacking chances, but Ritsumeikan Uji’s goalkeeper made a crucial save to prevent an early goal. After weathering the pressure, Ritsumeikan Uji gradually took control of the game and patiently searched for scoring opportunities while controlling possession.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 38th minute of the second half. Following a cross into the box, a scramble developed in front of goal, and Ritsumeikan Uji calmly finished the chance to score the long-awaited opening goal. The dramatic late strike sent the crowd into celebration. Ritsumeikan Uji then maintained a disciplined defense to shut down Fukuchiyama Seibi’s counterattacks and held on for a 1–0 victory.
The semifinal match will kick off at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, against Kyoto Kyoei High School at Taiyo ga Oka Ball Game Field B.
