On Sunday, May 24, the Reiwa 8 (2026) National High School General Athletic Meet (Inter-High School Championships) Kyoto Southern Qualifier for Volleyball was held at Rakunan High School, where the High School Boys’ Volleyball Team faced Kyoto Prefectural Hokuryo High School.

The team won the match 2–0 in straight sets, earning a place in the prefectural tournament qualification match.

In the first set, the team struggled early after conceding several consecutive points. However, the players encouraged one another and steadily built momentum to regain control of the match. Although there were moments when the flow seemed to shift back to the opponents, the team drew strength from the support of parents, first-year students, and teammates on the bench, eventually taking the first set 25–17.

In the second set, Hokuryo High School gained an early advantage with a series of points, putting the team under pressure. However, in the latter half of the set, the team fought back with consistent scoring through spikes and blocks from the middle attackers. Their persistent defense successfully shut down the opponent’s counterattacks. Maintaining focus until the very end, the team captured the second set as well, securing an impressive straight-set victory.

The next match, which will determine qualification for the Kyoto Prefectural Tournament, will be held on Sunday, May 31, at Kyoto Prefectural Katsura High School, where the team will face Higashiyama High School.
