On Sunday, May 31, the Kyoto Southern Qualifier for the 2026 National High School Inter-High School Volleyball Tournament (Prefectural Tournament Qualification Match) was held at Katsura High School, where our boys’ volleyball team faced Higashiyama High School. The team was unfortunately defeated 0–2 in sets, narrowly missing qualification for the prefectural tournament. In this tournament, our team achieved a place among the top 32 teams in Kyoto Prefecture and the top 24 teams in southern Kyoto.

In the first set, the players appeared nervous and struggled to perform at their usual level. Although they had difficulty gaining momentum, they continued to encourage one another and fought hard until the very end.

In the second set, the team made a strong start by scoring points aggressively from the opening stages. They also showed great persistence in receiving the opponent’s powerful spikes, rallying repeatedly to keep the ball in play. Although the players fought tirelessly without giving up until the final point, they ultimately fell just short of victory.

Many parents and supporters came to the venue to cheer on the team with warm encouragement. Inspired by this tremendous support, the players were able to give their all until the very end.

Although the team did not achieve its goal of advancing to the prefectural tournament, the experience and lessons gained from this competition became valuable assets for the team. Carrying the disappointment of this loss with them, the players will continue striving for further growth through their daily practices.
