On Saturday, June 6, 2026, the Ritsumeikan Uji High School Panthers, representing Kyoto in the Kansai American Football Championship second round, faced the Fighting Angels of Osaka Sangyo University Senior High School, the second-place representative from Osaka, and earned a 21–14 victory. With this win, the team advanced to the semifinals.

The game began with a kickoff by Ritsumeikan Uji. As containing the opponent’s powerful running attack was expected to be the key to victory, the Ritsumeikan Uji defense made a strong start by preventing any significant gains and forcing a three-and-out on the opening drive. The offense responded immediately. Starting from their own 22-yard line, the team advanced deep into enemy territory with a run-centered drive, eventually scoring the first touchdown on a pass play. On their next series, they added another touchdown with a long pass play to extend the lead to 14–0.

Osaka Sangyo University Senior High School then launched a comeback, scoring a touchdown from a long pass just before halftime to make it 14–7. Early in the second half, Ritsumeikan Uji widened the gap again to 21–7 with a kickoff return touchdown. However, the opposing team continued to fight hard and narrowed the score to 21–14, bringing the game within one touchdown.

In the final stages of the game, both teams battled intensely back and forth, but the Ritsumeikan Uji defense stopped a crucial fourth-down attempt by the opponents. The offense then secured several first downs to run down the clock, and the game ended with Ritsumeikan Uji maintaining the lead.

Many supporters, including parents, teachers, and classmates, came to cheer for the team at the venue. With the cheerleading squad absent due to participation in another championship event, volunteer members of the soccer club energized the stadium with drums and powerful cheers, giving tremendous support to the team.
