[MUN] Delegates from Rits Uji attend the 36th Kansai high Schools Model United Nations
From Wednesday, June 17 to Friday, June 19, 2026, student representatives from the IM and IG courses participated in the "36th Kansai High School Model United Nations" held at the Kyoto International Conference Center.
This prestigious and long-standing Model United Nations (MUN) conference is hosted by Kyoto Gaidai Nishi High School. In this activity, high school students take on the roles of delegates representing various countries to debate and seek solutions for challenges facing the international community.
This year's theme is "Women's Empowerment (Enhancing Women's Capabilities and Promoting Social Participation)." At the opening ceremony, Reiko Harima, Regional Coordinator of the Mekong Migration Network (MMN), delivered a keynote speech, allowing the students to deepen their understanding of the current situations and issues surrounding women in global society.
On the first day of the conference, participating students split into block meetings based on their assigned countries and engaged in lively discussions from their respective viewpoints. With a poster presentation session and the 1st General Assembly scheduled for the second day, followed by the General Assembly and closing ceremony on the third day, the students will continue to deepen their discussions while collaborating with participants from other schools.
This Kansai High School MUN marks the first Model United Nations activity of this fiscal year for our school's students. They are scheduled to participate in various international conferences both in Japan and overseas moving forward, and our school will also host the "Ritsumeikan Uji MUN" this December.
Through MUN activities that foster an international mindset and dialogue skills, we hope that our students will proactively face global issues and grow while respecting diverse values.
