"Self-Maintenance WOW" Workshop Held for Junior High School Students

Our school recently hosted a "Self-Maintenance WOW" program for junior high school students, welcoming instructors from the Kyoto Butsugan College of Acupuncture and Moxibustion.

In the first session, "Stretching and Acupressure for Athletes," students learned about the causes of sports injuries and effective ways to prevent them. They then took part in hands-on activities, practicing stretches that can be used before and after exercise, as well as acupressure techniques to relieve physical discomfort. Students also had the opportunity to try acupressure patches while learning practical ways to maintain their own physical condition.

In the second session, "Simple Massage Techniques You Can Use at Home," students learned easy-to-practice pressing and rubbing techniques to help relieve common everyday problems such as stiff shoulders and lower back pain. As they practiced the techniques with one another, they learned the appropriate amount of pressure and the correct locations to apply it. Many students commented, "I'd like to do this for my family," and "I want to try this at home."

Through this program, students gained a deeper understanding of the importance of paying attention to their physical condition on a daily basis in order to prevent injuries and maintain good health. It was also a valuable opportunity for them to learn not only how to care for their own well-being but also how to support the health of their family members and those around them.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the instructors from the Kyoto Butsugan College of Acupuncture and Moxibustion for sharing their expertise with our students.
