Grade 12 IG Course: Overseas Study Trip Begins!
A total of 167 Grade 12 students in the IG Course have departed on their overseas study trips.
Each year, the IG Course at our school organizes overseas study trips for Grade 12 students during the summer vacation. This year, students are divided into four groups: the United States (46 students), the United Kingdom (49 students), the Republic of Malta (46 students), and Hawaii (26 students), where they will take part in a variety of educational and cultural activities.
During the trips, students will not only learn about the history and culture of each destination but will also have opportunities for a range of experiences unique to studying abroad, including homestays (except for the Hawaii group) and exchanges with local schools.
While living overseas, students will encounter cultures and values different from those they are accustomed to. Differences in language and customs may also lead to situations in which things do not go as expected. Each of these experiences will help students develop the ability to think independently, take action, and overcome challenges.
These overseas trips are not simply about “sightseeing”; they are truly educational experiences. By seeing the “world” firsthand and encountering different cultures and values, students will also have an opportunity to reflect anew on Japan and on themselves.
We hope that through these valuable experiences, which are particularly meaningful at this stage of their high school lives, our students will broaden their perspectives considerably and return home having grown both personally and intellectually. We also hope that these experiences will inspire them to explore an even wider range of possibilities for their future studies and careers.
The schedule for each group is as follows:
- United Kingdom: Saturday, August 15 – Thursday, August 27
- Malta: Saturday, August 15 – Tuesday, August 25
- United States: Sunday, August 16 – Thursday, August 27
- Hawaii: Sunday, August 23 – Sunday, August 30
What kinds of encounters and discoveries await our students at each destination?
We look forward to welcoming them home after a rewarding experience, bringing with them many wonderful memories and fresh perspectives.
