Part-time Jobs

International Students are allowed to do part-time jobs both on campus and off-campus in Japan. The number of hours international students are allowed to work is limited to 28 hours per week (8 hours per day during holidays).

Job opportunities vary from student to student and his or her Japanese language skill will affect what kind of jobs are available.

Before commencing part-time work, students are required to obtain “Permission to Engage in Activity other than that Permitted under the Status of Previously Granted”(a part-time work permit) from the Japanese Immigration Bureau.
