Course Numbering System & Subject Codes

*Effective Spring 2023*

[General]

All GLA courses have full four-digit numbers. The first digit of a course identifies its level.

Courses numbered 1000 - 1999 are appropriate for undergraduate students in their first year of study.

Courses numbered 2000 - 2999 are appropriate for undergraduate students in their second year of study.

Courses numbered 3000 - 4999 are appropriate for undergraduate students in their third and fourth years of study.

Course levels indicate how challenging students may expect to find courses. Students are encouraged, and in some cases required, to take courses at their appropriate level of study. Some courses are restricted to students at certain years only. Students should contact academic advisors for registration details.
