GLArt Gallery, OIC Ritsumeikan University, Ibaraki

Curator’s message

GLArt space is located in the Global Lounge of the OIC Ritsumeikan; the space devoted to informal and enriching international encounter and exchange. Analogically, the curation of the gallery selects those transnational art practitioners whose work is interdisciplinary, interactive, conceptual, and that experiments in collaboration with scientific research. The first exhibition – At First Sight – features Sigune Hamann's work and opens the series of exhibitions in GLArt that fits this curatorial intent excellently.

Using knowledge developed by neuroscientists, Hamann invites the viewer to notice, empathize and interact with the subjects in her photographs.
