Research and development of field robots and service robots based on actuation studies from the viewpoint of mechanism and control.

In our laboratory, we are working on actuation technologies and various kinds of robot based on them from the viewpoint of mechanism and control. Our missions are research and development of field robots and service robots under the theme of "How can we successfully generate motion of objects with mass and shape and the forces acting on them, and how can we make use of them in society? Ongoing research projects include infrastructure inspection robots, environment exploration robots, new robotic arms and end-effectors that can make a mechanical contact.
  • Different types of pipeline inspection robot

  • Left: Submergible geared electric servo motor

  • Right: Variable stiffness robotic arm with low friction geared motors
