Ikushi Prize
The JSPS Ikushi Prize was established in 2010 in deference to the wishes of His Majesty the Emperor Emeritus Akihito.
The purpose of the award is to cultivate young researchers by recognizing outstanding doctoral students who are expected to contribute to the development of academic research in Japan in the future and to motivate them to continue pursuing their studies and research.
Every year, about 16 young researchers are selected for this prize.
