In light of the current state of the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) infections, restrictions to travel within China, and the occurrence of flight cancellations etc., as of February 12, 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has issued a request via their webpage to Japanese citizens presently in China or planning to travel to China, to urgently consider temporarily returning to Japan or postponing their travel plans.
In response to this, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has stated that there is a possibility that the situation in other areas in China may also deteriorate rapidly and has requested that students ensure that they are thoroughly informed of the situation and urgently consider temporarily returning to Japan.
