Ritsumeikan Cyber-Campus (β Version) Launched

Ritsumeikan University has launched the Ritsumeikan Cyber-Campus (β Version), an interactive online tool that will serve as a new place where students can interact with each other amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ritsumeikan Cyber-Campus (β Version) is powered by Miro*1, an online whiteboard service used for brainstorming and teamwork, and was launched in a cooperative effort between the students and the university. Alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and members of the general public can also use the online campus in addition to students.
Users can move freely between various online “islands” (e.g., campus island and club island) where they can get a better understanding of the university and our students’ activities. A large number of people can engage in meaningful interaction by using the online campus together with Zoom, Slack and other communication tools.
For example, students thinking about which club to join can receive explanations from and interact with the members of the more than 400 student clubs and support groups on our three campuses.

Ritsumeikan University is currently developing the Ritsumeikan Digital Transformation (DX) Platform as a tool for integrating the real and the virtual by enhancing real activities on campus and actively adopting cyber technology. The Ritsumeikan Cyber-Campus (β Version) is one part of this endeavor. We will start by sharing information on club activities and promoting interaction among users, after which we will add more features.
