Tales from student days

Acquire the problem-solving abilities and communication skills required of pharmacists

In classes in Ritsumeikan University’s College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, we had small group discussions from the lower years. We were given many opportunities to think independently and for students and faculty to communicate with each other. As well as knowledge of the pharmaceutical sciences, I was also able to acquire the problem-solving abilities and communication skills that a pharmacist particularly needs, and I do feel that I have been able to put those skills to use in my current job.

Tales from after graduation

The joy of having information I provided put to use

The Pharmaceuticals Information Office provides information in response to inquiries about pharmaceuticals from doctors, nurses, pharmacists and others. Responding to these kinds of inquiries requires the ability to grasp appropriately what information the inquirer needs, gather, evaluate, and determine as an expert the appropriate information from the massive volumes of information, and convey that information appropriately. Every day, as I engage in my work, I feel the joy of the information that I have supplied being put to use.

Future Goals and Dreams

To be a trusted presence

In the future, I want to become a presence who is trusted by both patients and the medical professionals. However, I am still very much a novice, so I am still studying every day. As well as pharmaceutical knowledge, I will work hard on improving myself, thinking about what patients and other healthcare professionals require of me as a pharmacist and about what I need to do and what I can do.

MESSAGEMessage to Current Students

Encounters that only a general university can offer

Precisely because this is a general university, you will be able to meet many new friends, learn about different ways of thinking and living, and enrich your mind. The College of Pharmaceutical Sciences may have an image of a very busy study load, but you can do everything— extracurricular clubs, overseas travel, study abroad, part-time work! I urge you to come to Ritsumeikan University and discover that “something” that is most important to you alone.
