Can I take part in extracurricular activities even if I am enrolled in the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences?

Ritsumeikan University is a general university with colleges in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.

It brings together many diverse students, who are actively involved in about 500 clubs and circles of great variety. Students in the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences also participate actively in club and circle activities. Part of the charm is that students from different colleges are able to inspire each other and grow.

On which campus is Ritsumeikan University’s College of Pharmaceutical Sciences located?

The College of Pharmaceutical Sciences is located at the Biwako-Kusatsu Campus in Shiga Prefecture from 1st to 6th Year.

The new Kaisoku (Rapid) train service stops at JR Minami-Kusatsu Station, which is the closest station to the Biwako-Kusatsu Campus. From Minami-Kusatsu Station, it takes about 20 minutes to Kyoto Station and about 50 minutes to Osaka Station.

At Open Campus days, we offer a range of programs, such as introductions to the college and a College of Pharmaceutical Sciences hands-on experience tour.

Do you have a promotion system?

From the perspective of systematic learning, the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences has conditions for promotion to 3rd, 4th, and 5th Year in the Department of Pharmacy and to 3rd and 4th Year in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. This leads students to graduate with a definite level of achievement of knowledge and skills.

If I live in lodgings, about how much will I have to pay in rent?

The rent for student apartments and units around the Biwako-Kusatsu Campus is around 40,000 yen per month. The student cooperative starts introducing one-room units and apartments from around mid-February.

I want to obtain a pharmacist’s license. Will I become eligible to sit the National Examination for Pharmacists even if I enroll in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (4 Years)??

The Professional Development Objectives are different, so the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (4 Years) does not provide eligibility to sit the National Examination for Pharmacists. Please enroll in the Department of Pharmacy (6 Years).

Tell me about advancement onto graduate school after graduation from the undergraduate college.

In terms of options for further study after graduation from university, Ritsumeikan University established a 4-year doctoral program to educate individuals who will be involved in clinical research in 2014, targeting graduates of the Department of Pharmacy.

The university is also contemplating the establishment of new master’s and doctoral programs for students of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences as a post-graduation study option.
