薬剤師について

薬剤師について

When I was a student, national university education focused on basic research, and there were almost no classes or practicums that trained you to become a pharmacist. Meanwhile, I became more interested in contributing to treatment that brought me closer to patients, so I decided to pursue education at a clinical research center in graduate school with the aim of becoming a clinical pharmacist. Although I was able to do practical work in a variety of facilities, there were no supervising pharmacists as there are today, and I was put in a medical department and left to fend for myself. While I had experiences that would be unthinkable today, such as staying overnight to observe everything from kidney transplant surgery to acute care management, I was also struggling every day to figure out what I should do as a pharmacist and what my raison d'etre was. The foundation of my career as a pharmacist was cultivated as I dealt with patients using my own judgment while I learned problem-solving skills at the university.

Message to Students

I have worked as a ward pharmacist at a university hospital as well as in a dispensing pharmacy and as a part of a home care team. And even today, we continue to meet the needs of our patients through trial and error, responding to new needs that arise every day. To ensure that I can nurture the next generation of human resources for this field, I would like to learn and grow together with my students without relying solely on my past experience and knowledge. Furthermore, as your senior, I aim to be someone that can be there when you have problems and concerns. To those of you who will be going on to practical training, your encounters with the faculty who will keep an eye on you and the honest impressions you have working in the field will be treasures for a lifetime. I hope you will prepare for your practical training by having many questions and demonstrating a motivation to learn, and I hope you will feel inspiration and face any struggles you have head on. Please envision your ideal self and be sure cherish every day.
