Why I Became a Researcher

I became a researcher because I liked chemistry, was able to encounter interesting research at university, and because I was blessed with good guides. When I was a student, I started working part-time and came into contact with a variety of jobs, but I was convinced that it was the world of research that fit my personality, was worth betting my life on, and was likely to last a lifetime.

Research Area and Theme

Synthesizing Pharmaceutical Product Molecules and Enhancing Their Functions

My goal is to create functional organic molecules such as new pharmaceutical products, their related compounds, and diagnostics using innovative organic chemistry methods developed independently.

Thoughts on Research Theme

Synthetic organic chemistry focuses on mastering the logic of freely assembling the bonds of organic molecules and then putting that logic into practice. Pharmacy has the power to discover new pharmaceutical products and improve the functions desired for pharmaceutical products through molecular design. As you can see from the structures of human and animal bodies, this is an important discipline for understanding the workings of biomolecules at the molecular level. In our laboratory, when conducting research on pharmaceutical synthesis, we believe that it is important to develop sustainable and future-proof methods, and we have considered the realization of environmentally and human-friendly precision synthesis and the development of new reactions as one guideline. With the development of various science and technology, we are now in an age where we logically design and synthesize desired pharmaceutical products and useful substances. In other words, an environment has been prepared in which organic synthesis can play a major role in drug discovery. We want to focus on developing human resources who are experts in organic synthesis and will be experts in the development of new drugs and functional molecules, while being involved in passing on the knowledge and technology of synthesis required for drug discovery research.

Gain experience collaborating with the world

Do you have world-class knowledge or any strengths in the specialized area of pharmacy? “Graduation research" that begins from your third year as a student is an important opportunity to develop a global perspective at a university. The themes of graduation research are world-wide and seriously engaging in this will allow you to gain many international experiences that can only be enjoyed in the laboratory. Presenting the results of this research will also contribute to the development of pharmacy. I hope that learning at the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences will be your strength.
