Why I Became a Researcher

I joined the first cohort of the College of Pharmacy at my alma mater, so there were no upperclassmen and I was able to receive direct guidance from professors from the first year. Because I was involved in setting up the lab at university, I got my start by cleaning new lab equipment. I think this was an invaluable experience because I had to do everything myself. When I first started university, I thought I wanted to be a pharmacist at a hospital, so I had no intention of becoming a researcher; however, I remember becoming extremely interested in research after I learned how to set up an experiment from scratch and was able to achieve results. That is probably when I started seriously considering a career as a researcher. Looking back, my homeroom teacher in fifth and sixth grade really liked science, and he would even shorten social studies class times to run science experiments. I also fondly remember doing many experiments during summer vacation. I was not thinking about becoming a researcher back then, but that is when I started enjoying experiments.

Research Information

Research Area and Theme

Applied research of pharmacist and pharmacy education

As part of the support I provide to my students, I aim to improve their overall academic ability by developing remedial teaching materials, utilizing IT tools, and visualizing performance at the student level.

Thoughts on Research Theme

As the social landscape transforms, students are being forced to adapt to a new kind of campus lifestyle that is nothing they have experienced before. For this reason, I am promoting hybrid education and pioneering future-oriented education so that students can lead their lives on campus with peace of mind. In addition, I would like to contribute to the improvement of students’ academic ability by providing them with individualized support and developing student portfolios.

Message to the Students

Compared to students in other colleges, students in the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences are extremely busy with lectures, and their examinations are tough. Not to mention, the faculty members are constantly telling you to study hard. Naturally, you have to study, but I also want you to experience the many things that you can only do while at university. No matter what career you find yourself in in the future, you will definitely need to have communication skills. How you spend your time at university will determine whether you can hone those skills. There are many ways to develop communication skills, be it at your part-time job, in your club activities, or in your daily dealings with friends and lab partners, and these are experiences you cannot have by only focusing on your studies. While you’re at university, I hope you will try to learn things other than just pharmaceutical sciences. I will provide you with the support you need to lead even more rewarding campus lives, so if you have any problems, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time.
