Episode

The eight competencies developed at Ritsumeikan Academy.
We introduce how they are developed through daily experiences, along with diverse episodes.

*These episodes are based on responses actually submitted by students at every level of education—including elementary, junior high, and high school students, as well as university and graduate students—in the Quantitative Survey for Ritsumeikan Academy Competency Framework conducted in the 2024 academic year. Information that could identify individuals has been removed or modified before publication.

I had many ups and downs in my academic life, with each feedback from the teachers giving me more understanding of myself through my writing or my speech, the way I communicate and form ideas, the flow of my thoughts, and understanding all of this made me more resilient in facing failures as I view them as opportunities to grow.

Resilience

I wanted to drop one class at the start of the semester however, i motivated myself not to gave up and practice a lot so that I would not fall behind in class.

Resilience

I believe through classes I was able to acquire resiliency. During class students have to go through exam, presentation, and group project. While doing these assignments we do face failure and achievement at the same time. Therefore to finish the project we have to recover from failure and look for the way to achieve them. I acquire resilience during class as a student.

Resilience

I divide my work and balance my time and starting doing my tasks or assignments.

Multitasking

Results of programming isn’t enough so we needed to change the way to write code.

Multitasking

There were many classes where I was not used to the workload and the tasks. I learned how to multitask and balance the classes as well as assignments.

Multitasking

In this case, currently in my second semester, I have gotten an oppurtunity to work in a dedicated manner on this semester's Project Based Learning(PBL) in addition to working on a research along with one of my professors. This has given me a chance to improve my Intiative skill, Self-efficacy, Teamworking skills and my Understanding capability. So far, due to Ritsumeikan facilities and accessibility, I have been able to work on the projects in a consistant manner.

Initiative

There were many courses in which I felt I was facing failure and because of that, I was feeling frustrated and depressed. I wanted to give up. But my own motivation made me continue.

Self-efficacy

My self efficacy grow so much because I start to spend much more time for self studying as well as increase my concentrative skills.
