Episode
The eight competencies developed at Ritsumeikan Academy.
We introduce how they are developed through daily experiences, along with diverse episodes.
*These episodes are based on responses actually submitted by students at every level of education—including elementary, junior high, and high school students, as well as university and graduate students—in the Quantitative Survey for Ritsumeikan Academy Competency Framework conducted in the 2024 academic year. Information that could identify individuals has been removed or modified before publication.

In my science classes, connections between topics are necessary to understand the topic fully. Through studying, I have built habits of making connections between topics and overall deepening my understanding of science and life in general.
Understanding
It was a great many months ago, in the long-ago time of 2023. I had been sitting at my desk in my classroom on the third floor of my beloved academic institution, studying for a Phys Ed. test that would not really affect my grade in any way but that I was made to study for to test my knowledge of car accidents at that time, when somebody asked me for help with their studies. I had made her acquaintance on several occasions prior to the one mentioned, but we had never really interacted apart from mandatory learning sessions involving group activities that various teacher chose using random roulette generators on the internet, and yet I was entirely willing to help her with studying for the test. It turned out that she was very knowledgeable on the subject, having an interest in car crashing for some unfathomable reason, and both of us scored highly on the ten-minute quiz and went on to experience no significant change in our academic lives and yet having gained a new friend, with me having the added bonus of now being able to listen to car crash stats whenever I wanted.
Resilience
After every test (finals and midterm) I always reflect on my test and why I made those mistakes. This helps me understand the topic better but also leads to getting better grades next time.
Initiative
Nothing much to say, but I think I've learnt to learn from my failures or successes, especially my studies. I've been struggling with maths or science to a degree. Though, as well as asking advice from a trustworthy friend or parent, I've learnt to try new solutions and solve my problem. Not only did I ask the teachers for extra help, but also pondered on how to improve the situation. Sometimes I'd procrastinate like everyone else too :)
