This exhibition traces the genealogies of traditional dyeing (sumi-zome and norinagashi-zome) from Meiji era to the modern times to present that these traditional methods have been handed down in line with the times as well as to introduce the activities to explore the possibilities of restoring "Norinagashi-zome"– a vanished technique.
We hope you enjoy the history of dyeing technology as well as the beauty of these traditional dyeing, and watch over our efforts to explore the possibilities of traditional industry in Kyoto.

Adults: 200 yen; University or College Students: 150 yen
- Admission fee for high school students and younger children are free
- For free entry, show your student ID card issued by universities which are members of University Museum Association of Kyoto.
