Acquire the Intelligence to Live Freely,
and Meet Others to Open Up Pathways to the Future

The courses taken during the four years of an undergraduate program (or six years for students in the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences) can be broadly divided into general education courses, specialized courses, and foreign language courses. Of these, in the general education course, you will learn systems of knowledge and methodologies that are different from those in the specialized education of the college. Please enrich your learning in general education courses so that you can acquire the ability to consider your specialty and put it into perspective, cultivate the intellect, wisdom, and values that guide our lives, and open up pathways to the future for ourselves and society through dialogue and collaboration with others.

Ritsumeikan University offers more than 100 general education courses that take advantage of the interdisciplinary characteristics of the university, which are divided into six groups: Ritsumeikan Courses, Liberal Arts Foundation Courses, International Liberal Arts Courses, Self-Forming Courses via Learning within Society, Sports and Healthrelated Courses, and Interdisciplinary Courses. Students may choose which courses to take.
