Research Organization of Science and Technology Professor Tomoko Hasegawa Selected for Highly Cited Researchers List Cross-Field Category for Sixth Year in a Row
Research Organization of Science and Technology Professor and RARA Fellow Tomoko Hasegawa was selected for the Highly Cited Researchers 2024 list, marking the sixth year in a row that she has been selected.
The Highly Cited Researchers list, which is released annually by Web of Science owner Clarivate Analytics, recognizes “the world's most influential researchers of the past decade, demonstrated by the production of multiple highly-cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year in the Web of Science.” For this year’s list, 6,636 researchers representing a variety of disciplines were selected. Professor Hasegawa was selected for the Cross-Field category, which evaluates researchers based on the total number of citations received for papers published in multiple fields.
Professor Hasegawa conducts research related to global environmental issues, particularly climate change, using computer simulations called integrated assessment models that provide integrated analyses of energy, the economy, agriculture, land use, water use, and other factors. Specifically, she is working on forecasting future greenhouse gas emissions, examining measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and conducting an economic analysis of the effects of climate change.
In recognition of her achievements, Professor Hasegawa received the Science and Technology Award (Research Category) of the Commendations for Science and Technology presented by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Cabinet Office Women's Challenge Award (Special Category Prize), and the Kyoto Prefecture Akebono Award this academic year.
