As of April 2024, Ritsumeikan University has concluded international education agreements with 25 German universities and institutions, and every year, we send and receive many students. Ambassador Goetze's campus visit was made possible thanks to the relationships fostered by Professor Deguchi, who has been conducting research in Germany for many years.

During the discussion, Ambassador Goetze spoke about the current global situation, and President Nakatani introduced Ritsumeikan's educational philosophy of "Peace and Democracy" as well as the initiatives the university is pursuing in light of the challenges facing the international community. Afterwards, the members took advantage of this invaluable opportunity to exchange views on a wide range of topics, including environmental issues, student exchange, and industrial development.

On the day of the meeting, Ambassador Goetze also delivered a special lecture entitled "Germany and Japan - Good Partners to Overcome the Challenges of the 21st Century.” Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Osaka-Kobe Melanie Saxinger also attended the special lecture, and the approximately 60 participants listened intently to the Ambassador’s talk.

Ambassador Goetze also toured the Kyoto Museum for World Peace during his visit. Director Kimijima spoke about the developments that led to the opening of the museum and introduced the exhibits. As he viewed the exhibits, Ambassador Goetze asked questions and exchanged opinions with Director Kimijima.
