Real life: In-person learning on campus

  • In principle, we will offer in-person learning opportunities to students in AY2021.
  • A wide range of courses, especially basic workshops, seminars, and foreign language classes, will be offered in-person.
  • We will enable you to learn from each other in a real-life setting to help you make friends and build a community of learning.
  • In addition to the libraries and learning commons, we will make available more self-study spaces by converting unused classrooms for this purpose.
  • We will enhance the learning environment by providing more electrical outlets and wireless LAN access points to make it easier for you to study and learn from each other.
  • All the on-campus student facilities such as the libraries, learning commons and multimedia rooms are available for use by students.

*Classes may be given online for international students who cannot enter Japan, or if necessary for educational purposes.

Peer connection: Mutual learning with peers

  • Oritors (senior students who are members of a student support organization) attend some small-group classes, such as basic workshops, to help new students adapt smoothly to learning and life at the university. They also assist new second-year students in building relationships in their communities.
  • Under the instruction of faculty staff in charge, Teaching Assistants (graduate students) and Educational Supporters (undergraduate students) are assigned to classes to assist each student in learning.

DX: Web-based learning

  • After consultation with faculty staff in charge, we will provide live or on-demand streaming of classes given in-person for those students who cannot attend for various reasons, to ensure all students have equal access to learning opportunities.
  • We have enhanced our learning environment by installing web cameras and speakers in all the classrooms. Any student can study on their own more freely, at any time and anywhere.
  • We will offer low-cost Internet access (by optical network or WiFi router) under special contracts so that students can attend classes at home and other off-campus locations.
