Real life: Study abroad programs to be resumed

  • To help students develop a global perspective, we offer a diverse range of global education programs. For example, we offer a set of international liberal arts subjects, teach some subjects in English, and run a global human resource development program.
  • We are preparing to resume study abroad programs with about 160 international partner universities around the world.
  • We offer support programs to help students prepare for studying abroad.
  • Senior students give advice and faculty staff offer counseling to students who plan to study abroad.
  • We offer support services to ensure the safety and security of students while studying abroad based on an assessment of the Covid-19 situation in the world.

Peer connection: Opening the door to the world with friends

  • The Beyond Borders Plaza (BBP) global commons provides a venue for Japanese and international students to interact with and learn from each other.
  • Students with experience of studying abroad offer advice.
  • Tutors for International Students Assembly (TISA), a students’ organization with 50 members, offers support to international students.
  • Students with experience of studying abroad act as Study Abroad Advisors to offer information about host countries and courses provided by host universities, while International Student Buddies and Resident Mentors of international dormitories assist international students with studying and living in Japan.
  • The Tandem Program allows you to pair with a student overseas online to teach and learn each other’s language.
  • We also offer the Language Exchange Buddy Program in which you learn the native language of a “buddy” while teaching Japanese to the buddy. You can effectively improve your practical foreign language skills by joining this program, which is open to anyone.

DX: Web-based study abroad program to connect with the world

  • We are preparing for web-based study abroad programs with our international partner universities
    • The web-based student exchange program allows Ritsumeikan University students to take courses of international partner universities from Japan, while concurrently taking courses offered by Ritsumeikan University for up to 10 credits.
    • University of California, Davis has agreed on web-based student exchanges with Ritsumeikan University. Students are awarded credits from the online courses by the college they enroll in.
    • Negotiations are under way with the University of British Columbia (UBC).
    • The short-term web-based study abroad program will be implemented in cooperation with alumni living abroad.
    • Various other web-based study abroad programs are being developed.
  • Study abroad counseling, which is usually given in-person, is also available online.
