The 4th AJI Interdisciplinary Seminar: “Dynamics of Identity of Migration/Refugees in the Muslim Society in the Southern Philippines”

On July 12, 2020, the 4th AJI Interdisciplinary Seminar took place online. The Asia-Japan Research Institute invited Professor Ikuya TOKORO (Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies). Under the title of “Dynamics of Identity of Migration/Refugees in the Muslim Society in the Southern Philippines”, Prof. Tokoro made a well-informed research presentation about a wide range of topics such as an overview of Islam in Southeast Asia, the current situation of the conflict in Mindanao, the political situation in relationships with neighboring Malaysia regarding immigrants and refugees, and the situation with IS. After this seminar, participants with an interest in Southeast Asian society enjoyed active discussion with Professor Tokoro.
