Institute of Human Sciences
Preceded by the Institute of Educational Sciences (established in 1990), the Institute of Human Sciences was established at Ritsumeikan University in 2000 for the purpose of conducting comprehensive and multidisciplinary research related to a broad range of human and societal issues. The Institute crosses the boundaries of colleges and graduate schools to conduct a large number of research projects in which participants come from inside and outside the University, including researchers, graduate students, undergraduates, junior and senior high school teachers, and welfare specialists. With research and practice related to "interpersonal support" as its core issue, the Institute extends beyond the limits of fundamentals and application, experimentation and implementation, and existing disciplines such as psychology, education, sociology, and welfare, to conduct research activities in partnership with a variety of regions and practitioners.
