Ritsumeikan University extends the Entry Prohibition for all the campuses from May 7, 2020 to May 31.

On May 4, 2020, the national government decided to extend the state of emergency until May 31. Ritsumeikan University has decided to continue implementing the following measures to protect the lives, safety, and health of its students, faculty and staff and to fulfill its social responsibility to prevent the spread of infection.

May 7 - May 31 (until the national government’s state of emergency concludes)

3. Details

(1) Online classes will resume on May 7
　* As we have already announced, online classes will resume on May 7 and in principle continue throughout the spring semester. Please prepare for taking classes in advance.

(2) Prohibiting entry to the campuses
Please note that students are not allowed to enter the campuses in principle.

　Under the conditions that actions to prevent the spread of the infections are implemented such as the thorough avoidance of Three Cs（Closed spaces, Crowded spaces and Close-contact settings), some of the students may be allowed to enter the campuses or use some of education and research facilities.
　If you come to campuses, please take your temperature and check your health carefully before going out. In addition, please prevent the spread of infections by wearing a mask, washing your hands, adhering to cough etiquette when coming to campuses. If you have some fever or are worried about your health, don’t come to the campuses.

(3) Stay-at-home request for students and request to cancel or postpone all activities
〇Students are asked to cancel or postpone all extracurricular activities, self-directed academic activities, and other events that require leaving one’s home or meeting face-to-face regardless of whether they are to be held on or off campus. (No restrictions will apply to online activities.)

〇Everyone is also asked to refrain from participating in private parties and other events or otherwise leaving their homes for nonessential and non-urgent matters. We will not ask students to refrain from job hunting and part-time work across-the-board, but if it is absolutely necessary to carry out these activities, as we have already requested, students should avoid the “Three Cs” (i.e., closed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact settings) and thoroughly adhere to measures to prevent infection, including hand washing and cough etiquette.

(4) Temporary closure of the Tokyo Campus and Osaka Umeda Campus
〇We will close the Tokyo Campus and Osaka Umeda Campus for the period in question.

(5) Faculty and staff work
〇As a rule, faculty and staff shall work from home or remain at home.
・ Regarding staff, we will maintain the minimum staffing framework to handle the resumption of classes as well as campus security, maintenance, and administration.
・ We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause to our students and their guardians, and we kindly request your understanding.

(6) Other
〇When the requests by the national government or local governments, we may make changes to our policy. Please check the university's website for the updates.
