BCP Level and Class Policy of Ritsumeikan University in Response to the Extension of a State of Emergency
○ Classes after Monday, June 7
The government decided to re-extend the current state of emergency covering Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo and other prefectures, and to set the deadline for the extension to Sunday, June 20. On the other hand, since there is a trend of gradual improvement in the infection situation, the university decided to maintain BCP Level 3 until Wednesday, June 9, and will continue with the class policy of “web-based classes” in principle. For the time being, web-based classes will continue in principle, and we ask for your understanding and cooperation.
○ Revision of the BCP level and Resumption of Face-to-Face Classes
Separately from the state of emergency declaration period, the BCP level of the university will be reviewed on Wednesday, June 9, and if it can be lowered the level from 3 to 2, the class format will be based on the BCP level 2 and face-to-face classes will resume from Monday, June 14, as its own discretion, while giving top priority to the safety and security of students, instructors, staffs and others concerned. The class format after Monday, June 14, will be announced via manaba+R, etc. on or around Thursday, June 10.
Students (except for international students who have not been able to enter Japan) are requested to prepare for attending face-to-face classes on campus after Monday, June 14.
Moreover, if you feel uneasy about taking face-to-face classes, you may also take classes online depending on your individual circumstances, so please inform your instructor in charge of the class.
In addition, there are already descriptions for each BCP level in the Class Format section of the syllabus, but that information may change so be sure to check announcements from the class instructor via manaba+R, etc.
○ Implementation of Final Examinations in Spring Semester AY2021
Please note that final examinations will be held from Friday, July 23 as scheduled.
As for specific courses having final examinations, please be sure to check the syllabus as well as notifications from your instructor on manaba+R and the timetable of examination that will be announced on Tuesday June 15 at 1:00p.m.
As the coronavirus disease continues for a long period of time, it is likely to have a variety of effects on your university life in general, so please feel free to consult with the university if you have any concerns or problems.
