Ritsumeikan University participates in 2nd Japan-India University Forum hosted by the Japan Science and Technology Agency
On Saturday, September 30, Prof. Yoshio Nakatani, President of Ritsumeikan University, and Prof. Takamoto Itoh, the Associate Dean of International Affairs at Ritsumeikan University, attended the 2nd Japan-India University Forum held at The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike.
Hosted by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), the forum brings together leaders from top universities and research institutions in Japan and India with the aim of developing a platform for exchange to promote further cooperation between the two countries. This was the second time Ritsumeikan University attended the forum, following on the first one held in January 2023. The second forum, whose topic was “Promoting Brain Circulation between Japan and India,” attracted participants from 10 Indian universities and 20 universities, three institutes, and three companies from Japan.
In the first session, lectures and a roundtable discussion were held by representatives from the participating universities and companies on topics including cooperation between Japan and India on human resources development, industry-university collaboration, and the expansion of cooperation in education and research. In the second session, Ritsumeikan University was able to hold individual meetings with India’s top universities, where we had lively discussions with our Indian counterparts on the potential for future collaboration.
At Ritsumeikan, we will continue our efforts to further globalize education and research so we can contribute to promoting exchange between Japan and India.
