‘A future viewed through the lens of technology envisioned from the underground economy of Hong Kong’ was the grand title of the very first ‘Ys salon’ meeting, which took place on Kinugasa Campus, July 10.

Around 30 students, researchers and faculty joined two specialists from within the Trust - Chancellor of the Ritsumeikan Trust, Yoshio Nakatani, and Vice Chancellor of The Ritsumeikan Trust, Yoko Matsubara – to discuss and broaden thinking based around the theme of Ys salon: ‘Human Society: Creating a positive Future’.

The event also saw special guest speaker Professor Sayaka Ogawa of the Graduate School of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences broaden the terms of the debate by sharing a cultural anthropological explication of the underground economies of Tanzania and Hong Kong – complimented by a case study of a so called ‘Sharing Economy’ currently being formed by Tanzanians in Hong Kong .

More details about Ys salon will be available in a forthcoming dedicated website section.
