【Publications】The research outcome initiated by Prof. Miwa Hirono was published as a special issue in Disasters!
Disasters (Vol.48 (S1), July 2024), a world-renowned academic journal on natural and anthropogenic disasters and risk management research, published a special issue on the outcomes of disaster management research in Southeast Asia initiated by Professor Miwa Hirono (College of Global Liberal Arts, Ritsumeikan University). All but a few articles are open-access. To learn more about these articles, please visit the Disasters page
The Asia-Japan Research Institute (AJI), Ritsumeikan University, has been deeply involved in this research project led by Prof. Hirono through the Research Development Program and by (co-)hosting various research workshops. The fact that the long succession of research activities conducted until today has resulted in the publishing of this special issue in a globally influential journal is highly encouraging news for the AJI.
Professor Hirono has made significant contributions to the research activities of AJI as a project leader of “Locally led Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance in Asia,” which was adopted in 2020 (project finished), and “China’s Foreign Policy and Human Security of Vulnerable Populations in Developing Countries,” which was adopted in 2024) in the Research Development Program.
