Public Value, and Capitalism” (2022.07.23)

Ritsumeikan University is the Japanese partner of Meridian180, and the Asia-Japan Research Institute (AJI) serves as its executive office. Since 2018, Ritsumeikan has actively promoted participation in Meridian180 through a “Research Results Dissemination Program” based on a cooperative agreement with Cornell University. Furthermore, in 2019, Ritsumeikan signed an agreement for research exchange with Northwestern University, and since then, various meetings related to Meridian 180 have been held based on this agreement.

In August 2021, Ritsumeikan University launched a new “Research Results Dissemination Program” based on a cooperative agreement with Northwestern University, and this enabled the AJI to further strengthen cooperation with Northwestern University Roberta Buffett Institute for Global Affairs. Ritsumeikan disseminates and shares the research findings of Meridian180 Forum through five themes: 1) Smart and Shrinking Cities, 2) Gerontology and Social Technology, 3) Social Development and Science Technology for Food /Agriculture, 4) Gender Fair Responses to the COVID-19 Pandemic and Urgent Challenges, 5) Promoting the Employment of Persons with Disabilities as a Social Responsibility by Utilizing Public Procurement.
