COMPANY PROFILE
Company Profile
In a word, we are "Doctor to the Earth." True to our company name, we leverage the technology and expertise of "applying geology" to provide services that solve social challenges across three segments: "Disaster Prevention & Infrastructure," "Environment & Energy," and "International." Building on the surveying technology and consulting capabilities cultivated on Earth, we have begun working to expand our activities as "Doctor to the Moon."
The fact that this is an "integrated" graduate school combining science, engineering, and management is a major draw. We expect it to produce well-balanced individuals who can take a bird's-eye view of the entire process from the headwaters of knowledge through to the broad reaches of practical application, accurately locate their own position within that process, and pursue their studies in depth from that vantage point.
Also, from the standpoint of a private-sector company, the most important point is that the abilities and technologies acquired at the university be connected to business. Talent who can manage that flow — generating new principles from pure science, enabling their engineering application, creating ventures from those applications, and establishing them as viable commercial businesses — will be a major driving force in our company's continued growth.
Geophysical exploration, one of our areas of expertise, deals with a wide range of physical phenomena. Beyond foundational knowledge in physics, including vibration, radar signals, gravity, and radiation, designing and developing the instruments to detect these phenomena requires knowledge and capability in electronics, mechanics, and software engineering, all of which can be applied to the development work described above. Furthermore, individual capability that combines multidisciplinary knowledge with management skills is truly the source of professional competence, and we expect graduates to contribute across a wide variety of settings, from foundational work through applied development and business planning.
Possible roles include developing exploration methods, instruments, and systems for lunar and deep-space missions, or specialized survey instruments for Earth's polar regions. We also look forward to graduates drawing on their integrative learning to take on new initiatives aimed at our company's growth in space development.
