COMPANY PROFILE

Company Profile

We develop and manufacture equipment used in the production of semiconductors and electronic components. Our products include thin-film deposition systems (e.g., CVD, ALD) for creating high-performance films on surfaces of semiconductor and electronic devices; dry etching systems for removing materials to form fine circuit patterns; and surface treatment and plasma processing systems for improving and controlling material properties. Through these technologies, we contribute to advanced fields such as semiconductors, electronic components, optical devices, and power devices, particularly compound semiconductors.

As a company, what value or appeal do you see in the Graduate School of Frontier Exploration in Earth and Space's approach to talent development?

We see great value in the development of people capable of taking on complex and uncertain challenges through advanced education and research focused on solving space-related issues as well as global issues on Earth. In particular, space development, Earth observation, and environmental energy are important fields that are directly linked to future industrial competitiveness and solutions to social issues. For industry, the cultivation of talented individuals who can understand these areas in an interdisciplinary manner and connect technology with society is critical.

We also have high expectations that the graduate school's emphasis on collaboration with industry will produce talent equipped not only with research capabilities, but also the ability to apply knowledge and solve problems in the real world.

What kinds of roles or positions within your company do you believe graduates of the Graduate School of Frontier Exploration in Earth and Space would excel in?

We expect graduates to thrive in roles and positions such as the following:

・Advanced process development engineers (semiconductors and compound semiconductors)
・R&D positions related to plasma, thin-film, and surface treatment technologies
・Application engineers working on next-generation devices (optical, communications, sensors, etc.)
・New business development and technology planning (including space-related applications)
・Technical sales and field engineers responsible for collaborative development with customers

In particular, we expect graduates to utilize their expertise to succeed in interdisciplinary areas where semiconductor technologies intersect with communications and sensing technologies related to solving space-related issues and global issues on Earth.

What kinds of knowledge and skills would be particularly useful in those roles and positions? Please provide some detailed examples.

We believe the following knowledge and abilities would be particularly applicable:

・Strong foundations in physics, materials science, and electrical and electronic engineering (especially in areas related to surfaces, interfaces, optics, and plasma)
・Understanding of material and device characteristics in space and other extreme environments
・Data analysis and simulation skills
・The ability to structure problems across multiple disciplines
・A practical mindset that enables the translation of research outcomes into industrial applications
・Communication skills suited to international projects

For example, the development of optical devices and high-frequency devices for space communications and sensing applications requires the ability to understand and optimize material properties, process technologies, and device design in an integrated manner. We believe this kind of cross-disciplinary knowledge combined with practical skills will create tremendous value in our technology development efforts.
