COMPANY PROFILE
Company Profile
We are a software development company whose strengths lie in systems engineering and real-time technologies, developing “high-reliability, high-responsiveness systems” in areas such as social infrastructure and the space field.
Our primary businesses fall into the following four areas:
(1) Public infrastructure systems
(2) Space and advanced technologies
(3) Mobile networking
(4) Internet technology
We believe that by participating in projects, the fundamental knowledge that students have acquired up through university can be deepened into a practical understanding that can be applied in actual development work. Space development is a continuous series of difficult challenges, but there is tremendous value in the experience of being involved in a variety of projects and seeing them through while engaging in repeated trial and error. If students can cultivate not only comprehensive technical and scientific capabilities, but also strong human skills through teamwork, they can become highly effective contributors from the outset. For a systems development company like ours, whose basis lies in systems engineering, we find the Graduate School of Frontier Exploration in Earth and Space extremely attractive.
In the future, we also look forward to the possibility of conducting joint research with the graduate school and having our employees enroll as working adults to earn their doctoral degrees.
We believe they would be able to thrive as engineers.
Even for engineers developing software, having an understanding of and experience with hardware and entire systems becomes a major strength. When developing systems in advanced fields such as space and robotics, you inevitably find yourself having to acquire new knowledge across a wide range of fields each time you encounter a problem, learning what you need when you need it. In addition to having fundamental knowledge in science and engineering, we believe that people who possess the flexible adaptability to gain an understanding of what is required at a given moment and to supplement that knowledge as needed could play active roles as engineers within our company.
We believe that the experience that students gain in the graduate school can be directly applied across the multiple projects we are implementing within our company. So, what becomes essential is the ability to drive a project forward drawing on one's own expertise in software and systems, while bringing together the knowledge of specialists across different fields and navigating the trade-offs and coordination that entails.
For example, our work involves engaging in dialogue with space specialists at organizations like JAXA, proposing to them the extent that can be achieved through innovations in software and systems, and then translating those ideas into actual systems.
For that reason, we are looking for people with the ability to advance work collaboratively with specialists, the coordination skills needed to integrate knowledge from different fields and derive optimal solutions, and the versatility that comes from maintaining a broad perspective.
The ability to see things through to the very end is also essential. We hope students will cultivate the capability to respond flexibly to the many problems and changing circumstances that arise within projects and ultimately carry them through to completion. Because the Graduate School of Frontier Exploration in Earth and Space places project-based learning at the core of its curriculum, students can gain experience creating things while confronting real-world issues and thinking through how best to achieve their goals. Therefore, we expect students to develop both independence and the ability to get things done.
